For much of the 20th century, names like "Keiko", "Yoko", "Sachiko", and "Akiko" were extremely common in Japan. They all share the kanji ć. Once considered elegant and refined, the character became one of the most popular name endings for girls and can still be found in many famous Japanese names today.
